As a Guardian who has spent countless hours in the Destiny 2 universe, I've learned that Xur's weekly visits are always a gamble. Sometimes he brings garbage, and sometimes he brings gold. But the weekend of July 15-19, 2022, was one of those rare occasions when nearly everything in his inventory was worth your Legendary Shards. I remember loading into the Tower, sprinting past Amanda Holliday to the Hangar, and finding our favorite Agent of the Nine tucked away in his usual spot. What made this particular visit so special? Let me break it down for you.

Exotic Weapons: Hawkmoon and Dead Man's Tale

Once again, Xur had a new Hawkmoon and Dead Man's Tale (DMT) for sale. These are the only two Exotic guns in the entire game that have multiple perk options, with a fresh roll available from Xur every weekend. But acquiring either weapon is quite costly—you'll need the same types of materials used for the Exotic Archive. So, Guardians, be sure of your decision before you buy!

This weekend, Xur's Dead Man's Tale came with Corkscrew Rifling, Accurized Rounds, Moving Target, and Composite Stock. Honestly? I'd hold off on that roll. It's not terrible, but it's not great either. However, his Hawkmoon rolled with Extended Barrel, Alloy Magazine, Rangefinder, and Heavy Grip. If you enjoy PvP, this is a fantastic option. Rangefinder on a Hand Cannon? Yes, please. Who wouldn't want that extra zoom and effective range?

Also, don't forget to pick up the Xenology quest from Xur. Completing it rewards you with an Exotic Cipher, which is always useful.

Exotic Armor: A Warlock's Dream

Now, let's talk about the Exotic armor. This is where that weekend truly shined. Xur offered:

  • Suros Regime (Kinetic Auto Rifle) – a classic, but not the star of the show.

  • The Bombardiers (Hunter Exotic): 63 stat roll with great Intellect, Mobility, and Resilience.

  • Ashen Wake (Titan Exotic): 63 stat roll with good Discipline and Resilience.

  • Crown of Tempests (Warlock Exotic): 70 stat roll with fantastic Resilience, Discipline, and Strength.

Can you believe that Crown of Tempests roll? A 70-stat total with fantastic Resilience, Discipline, and Strength is absurdly good. And with Arc 3.0 on the horizon at the time, this couldn't have come at a better moment. The new PvE damage resistance is directly impacted by the Resilience stat in Destiny 2, making this helmet one of the best Exotic armor pieces Xur had sold in recent memory. If you were a Warlock main, you likely grabbed it without hesitation. For those who didn't have a better roll, The Bombardiers and Ashen Wake were also worth picking up.

Legendary Weapons: A Mixed Bag

Xur's Legendary offerings were a mixed bag, but there were a few gems. Here's what he had:

  • The Keening (Sidearm): Arc Adaptive Frame, Slideshot and Sympathetic Arsenal

  • Seventh Seraph Officer Revolver (Hand Cannon): Kinetic Precision Frame, Threat Detector and High-Impact Reserves

  • Extraordinary Rendition (SMG): Kinetic Aggressive Frame, Surplus and Tap the Trigger

  • Wolftone Draw (Bow): Arc Precision Frame, Sneak Bow and Harmony

  • Distant Tumulus (Sniper): Solar Rapid-Fire Frame, Clown Cartridge and Opening Shot

  • First In, Last Out (Shotgun): Arc Pinpoint Slug Frame, Hip-Fire Grip and Opening Shot

  • Corsair's Wrath (Linear Fusion Rifle): Solar Precision Frame, Killing Wind and Unrelenting

While none of these rolls are great for beating a GM Nightfall, Extraordinary Rendition has a solid PvP roll. Seventh Seraph Officer Revolver can create Warmind Cells, and Xur's roll is good for lower-to-mid PvE content. And The Keening can be acquired with additional perks, but Slideshot and Sympathetic Arsenal will always be available. Not bad, right?

Legendary Armor Stats: A Quick Breakdown

If you were looking to fill out your armor collection, Xur's Legendary armor pieces had some decent stat totals. Here's the breakdown by class:

Class Gauntlets Chest Armor Helmet Leg Armor
Warlock 60 59 61 63
Titan 60 64 55 63
Hunter 65 61 55 55

Hunters got a nice 65 roll on gauntlets, while Titans had a solid 64 chest piece. Warlocks had a balanced spread. Nothing game-breaking, but useful for rounding out builds.

Why This Weekend Stood Out

Looking back from 2026, that July 2022 weekend remains one of my favorite Xur visits. The Crown of Tempests alone made it worthwhile for Warlocks, and the Hawkmoon roll was a PvP dream. Plus, with Arc 3.0 looming, the timing was perfect. It's a reminder that Xur can still surprise us—even after all these years. So, the next time you see Xur, don't just walk past him. Check his inventory. You never know when he'll have another weekend like that one. 🎮🔫🛡️
