I still remember the day I first got my hands on a glaive. It was during The Witch Queen campaign, and I was immediately drawn to the hybrid playstyle—part shield, part projectile, part melee. Since then, I've watched glaives evolve from a novelty into a niche but beloved tool in my arsenal. Now, in 2026, after countless raids, dungeons, and seasonal grinds, I want to share my personal ranking of every glaive that matters. This isn't just a tier list; it's a story of how these weapons have grown, stumbled, and occasionally soared. So grab your favorite shield, and let's dive in.

First, a quick note: glaives have come a long way since their debut. The Episode Heresy artifact introduced perks that pushed them beyond their normal limits, and the exotic class glaives finally got some love. But even with these buffs, they're still not the strongest weapon type in the game. However, for those of us who love double special ammo builds with rocket-assisted sidearms, glaives are a secret weapon. Let's start from the bottom.
The Exotic Disappointments
Edge of Intent (Warlock) – The Healer's Folly
I wanted to love Edge of Intent. A glaive that heals allies? Sign me up. But the reality is brutal. The healing is so tiny that I often forget it's even there. Why use this when I can drop a Healing Rift, pop Well of Radiance, or toss a Healing Grenade? Even Heat Rises got a healing buff that makes this glaive look pathetic. Since Episode Heresy, it got Incandescent for add clear, but that's like putting a bandage on a broken leg. It's a cool idea, but ultimately an inconvenience.

Edge of Action (Titan) – The Mini Bubble That Couldn't
A smaller Ward of Dawn? Sounds enticing, right? Wrong. This mini bubble gives you a fraction of the benefits. No damage boost, which is the whole point of a Ward. I've tried to make it work, but every time I cast it, I wish I had just used my actual super. The rework gave it destabilizing rounds, which helps with Void builds, but it's still not enough to justify the exotic slot. Most Titans I know just use it for memes.

Edge of Concurrence (Hunter) – Chain Lightning, Limited Appeal
When this first dropped, it was easily the worst of the exotic bunch. But with Arc 3.0 and the Episode Heresy artifact, it's actually fun now. The chaining Arc energy synergizes well with jolting feedback, and since glaives benefit from melee range, it's a decent pick for up-close Hunters. Still, it eats your exotic slot, which is a tough sell. I'll use it when I'm bored, but it's not going to replace my meta picks.

The Legendary Workhorses
The Enigma – The Starter Friend
I still have my original Enigma from The Witch Queen campaign. It's a Void glaive that's incredibly simple, but that's its charm. For Void builds, it plays nicely with melee-oriented Elemental Well setups. With enhanced perks like Grave Robber, Threat Detector, Unrelenting, and Frenzy, it can hold its own. It's not the most powerful, but its craftable nature gives it flexibility. I'd take it over any exotic glaive any day.

Ecliptic Distaff – The Ritual Reward
From Season of Defiance, this Void glaive was the first ritual weapon of its kind. I grinded for it, and it was worth it. Close to Melee is a game-changer—projectile final blows buff glaive melee damage. Or you can go with Destabilizing Rounds for add clear. The second column offers Replenishing Aegis (blocking reloads from reserves) or Immovable Object (ranged damage while blocking grants energy). It's a solid choice for any Void build.

Nezarec's Whisper – The Arc Melee Monster
I slept on this glaive for too long. Introduced in Season of the Haunted, it really shines with Arc 3.0. The melee gameplay is addictive, and with enhanced perks like Demolitionist, Vorpal, or Frenzy, it becomes a beast. Its Origin Trait, Extrovert, restores health when you score kills near other enemies and Nightmares—perfect for aggressive play. If you love punching things, this is your glaive.

Judgment of Kelgorath – The Solar Swiss Army Knife
From Season 19, this Solar glaive is craftable if you got the patterns, or you can hope Banshee sells a good roll. I love the flexibility: first column has Immovable Object, Demolitionist, or Pugilist. Second column offers Incandescent for Solar builds, Unstoppable Force for projectile range after blocking, Close to Melee for melee lovers, or Surrounded for safe damage. It's not flashy, but it gets the job done.

Forthcoming Deviance – The Raid Contender
Coming from Salvation's Edge, the hardest raid in recent memory, this glaive looks unique but has somewhat standard perks. Impulse Amplifier helps with projectile gameplay, while Reconstruction eases ammo management. For damage, Close to Melee is the go-to, but Chaos Reshaped is the raid-exclusive perk that acts like Frenzy—bonus damage after extended battle, plus healing. It's a solid pick for close-range builds.

Greasy Luck – The Solar Standout
Best name, best Solar glaive. From Ghosts of the Deep, it can roll Replenishing Aegis and Incandescent for a fantastic Solar synergy. Disruption Break in the first column turns it into a priming tool. While Episode Heresy doesn't favor Solar, I'm keeping this one for future content. If you can slog through that dungeon, it's worth it.
Lubrae's Ruin – The King of Glaives
No surprise here. From Vow of the Disciple, this Solar Legendary is the hardest to earn and the strongest. Craftable with enhanced perks like Grave Robber, Surrounded, Vorpal Weapon, Swashbuckler, and Wellspring, it fits any PVE playstyle. Its Souldrinker Origin Trait heals you on reload based on kills. I've used this in every raid since I got it. It's simply the best.

So there you have it—my personal journey through the world of glaives. They may not be meta, but they're fun, and that's what matters. Whether you're blocking, slicing, or shooting, a good glaive can change how you play. Until next time, Guardians. 🛡️🗡️
